For occupational disciplines, a combination of education and/or experience is required to qualify. A faculty may qualify with any of the following:
- Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught
A work experience letter from a previous employer on company letterhead is required if the applicant desires to use a work experience pathway for certification.
- Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor’s degree or higher OR
- A Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field OR
- A Master’s degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR
- A Master’s degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field
A graduate degree in the following areas may qualify someone to teach in this field: Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Biology, BioChemistry
The completion of coursework in the following subjects may qualify someone to teach this discipline: MAT, ECE, EEE, BIO, CHM, PHY, MNT, BIOC
The completion of coursework in any math, any physics, any chemistry, any biology, biochemistry, metrology, fabrication, characterization, semiconductor, microelectronics, advanced manufacturing may qualify someone to teach in this discipline.
The completion of ASTM certifications in MNT Safety, Fabrication, and Characterization may qualify someone to teach in this discipline.
The completion of Microelectronics and Nanotechnology Certificate Program from Penn State University may qualify someone to teach in this discipline.
