Faculty Expertise

The faculty serving on Instructional Councils are best positioned to provide consistent, expert evaluation of faculty coursework and credentials so as to determine relevance within a specific teaching field. Therefore, Human Resources, Department/Division Chairs, Deans, VPAAs, and other stakeholders must coordinate with the relevant Instructional Councils to determine if the established minimum qualifications are met by candidates for Faculty (Residential, Adjunct, or Dual Enrollment) positions.

Description

Certifications in the field of agriculture such as community college certificate of completion, or other industry-related certifications.

Certifications from agriculture-related industries. Examples: Agriculture teaching Certificate, Arizona Landscape Contractors Association Certificate, Arizona Nursery Association, Certified Pesticide Applicator, and others.

Rationale

These certifications are tied into training courses specifically taught in the faculty discipline area.

Different certifications and agriculture career areas require CEU or continuing education credits to maintain certification. These courses are counted as hours toward certification and can be used to verify training.

These certifications, should all be reviewed on an individual basis some are suitable as stand-alone certifications and others may need to be stacked to meet hiring qualifications.

Occupational Experience

Documentation from training institutions or workshop hours need for educational advancement within specified agriculture-related disciplines.

Documentation will have to outline duties and specific hours spent working in the discipline area. If hiring is based on hours and years of occupational experience, the employer documentation should have detailed hours and duties verified by management.
