For academic disciplines, a graduate degree is required. A faculty may qualify with any of the following:
- Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field OR
- Master’s degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours
Astronomy any emphasis, Physics with astronomy emphasis, Geology with Planetary Sciences emphasis. Emphasis to be determined by Instructional Council review of course topics and thesis dissertation topic.
AST or accepted prefixes to be determined by course topics and thesis/dissertation topic in Instruction Council review
Astronomy, Astrophysics, Sun, Stellar, Nebular, Interstellar Medium, Relativity, Universe, Black holes, Galaxy or Galaxies, Spectroscopy, Quantum, Planetary, Cosmology, Cosmochemistry, any planet names, Exoplanets, Astronomical instrumentation, any moon names, Space Science, Remote Sensing, Habitable or Habitability, Astrobiology, Numerical Methods, Geophysics, Geodynamics, Geoscience, Orbital, Telescopes. Similar keywords and research related to thesis dissertation to be approved by the IC during review. Cross listed courses may be reviewed for subject matter.
