A graduate degree is required. A faculty may qualify with any of the following:
- Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field OR
- Master’s degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours
African American Studies, American Indian Studies, Asian American Studies, Chicano/a Studies, Ethnic Studies
If the Masters Degree (or higher) is not in AFR, CCS, or ETH but rather in a related core subject (e.g., Literature, History, Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, Humanities, Public Policy, Communications, Health Fields, etc.) or a relevant Humanities or Social Science-based interdisciplinary Master's Degree (or higher), then candidate must demonstrate a research focus of study in the field through one of the following means:
1. completion of 18 credit hours of graduate coursework related to AFR, AIS, AAS, CCS or Ethnic Studies OR
2. Completion of a Thesis/Dissertation or Capstone research topic closely related to or within the scope of AFR, AIS, AAS, CCS or ETH
